The Couple’s Review
The Crowthers were professional, friendly and approachable throughout our experience with them. From the moment we contacted them they made us feel at ease, helping us to make plans for the big day. On our wedding day, both Alexandra and Calum were amazing. Many of our guests commented on how well they fit into our day. They laughed and joked with us and helped us feel comfortable despite us not usually being comfortable in front of a camera. Receiving our full gallery was like reliving our whole day. Words really can't describe how special the photos and videos are to us. The level of skill these people have is unreal, and they're wonderful cat people too!! What more could you ask for? By far the best investment for our day. Can't recommend them enough.
Getting Ready
Amy & Sam got ready at Hall Farm Holiday Cottages which is a 10 minute drive from Grangefields and a perfect location for getting ready! A lovely warm inviting space, it made the whole morning nice and chilled. Perfect before a big day ahead. Amy’s Dress was by Nora Eve Bridal and her flowers were by Big Day Blooms.
Wedding Ceremony
The couple had a lovely short ceremony, with a Harpist Soraya playing as Amy walked down the aisle. Once they were married and walking back down the aisle as everyone cheered, the sun shone through beautifully capturing them in a lovely halo of light! We love the photo outcome!
Wedding Tip: Remember to look at each other not your registrar. Sometimes it’s easy to forget so lock eyes with your spouse to be and don’t look back!
Details of the day
The stylist at Amy and Sam's wedding was none other than Tara/Knott who we’ve worked with many a time and she’s an absolute dream. Her styling is just stunning and we always know we’re in for a treat when she’s designing the decor and details of the day.
On their tables, they included personalised biscuits (we also got our own biscuits too)! They also named two cocktails for the day, after their beloved cats. As Cat folk ourselves, we love when other Cat keepers pay homage to their little furry friends at their weddings.
Amy and Sam chose to focus on Autumnal oranges to tie into their Autumnal wedding. We loved the pop of orange on the trestle tables. They also chose to put on the tables ‘How well do you know the couple’ crosswords for everyone to do. Loved this unique idea!
They chose to have a sweetheart table with just the two of them, so they could have some quiet time together during their meal. Absolutely love this idea as a wedding can feel like a very busy day for lots of our couples. That quiet time together is perfect.

Confetti and Drinks Reception
They had confetti outside with really moody atmospheric clouds. Afterward they had the drinks reception and because it was November, most people stayed inside drinking and chatting.
We did the wedding party photos outside by the ceremony barn. We thought the orange of the dresses tied in nicely with the brick, whereas the tweed green suits tied in with the grass. Bringing it all together!
Couples Portraits
We always recommend to couples, no matter the time of year to get outside and have a few photos. Even if it rains or it’s cold! Amy and Sam were troopers and we got some lovely shots around the courtyard and even a little bit of winter golden hour. We love doing lots of walking shots and getting you to focus on the moment.
We might occasionally throw in a moody black and white romantic photo and we’re always on the hunt for a bit of golden hour. Remember if golden hour is something you want; keep an eye on what time the sun sets! Especially for winter weddings.
Speeches and Evening reception
We always recommend doing speeches after the meal, as people will pay attention more when they’re full and relaxed! Grangefields often recommend speeches after and for good reason. Everyone enjoyed food and speeches and then quickly found themselves outside enjoying marshmallows by the fire pit.
Amy and Sam had their first dance, which also featured a smoke machine. A first for us and we bloomin’ loved it! The white lights on the floor really made it stand out. Then everyone joined in and got the party going.
The night ended with more marshmallows, some dramatic sitting down type photos in the courtyard at night and plenty of cocktails being drank. It was one of those lovely romantic cold winter wedding evenings, where everyone enjoyed time together, good food and drink and gathering around the fire pits.
