First wedding since our lovely little arrival (And it was good’un)

We sat down this morning, the day after Jess & Jakes's big day and worked out we haven’t shot a wedding together in 6 months. Due to some serious and not so serious factors like me cutting my hand open 3 days before my last wedding of 2021 and then us welcoming our lovely little daughter into the world this February, meaning we had to use a few awesome associate shooters for 3 weddings. And frankly, they smashed it!

So we were a little tentative coming back especially with Alexandra only just giving birth 9 weeks and 1 day prior so to ease the strain on her we got a second shooter, the inimitable Gina Fernandes, who we would happily have shoot with us every wedding. It was like working with an old friend you haven’t seen in a while.

We booked Jess & Jake in 2020 and we even went down to Newquay last year to shoot their pre-wedding, we tried to turn it into a little jolly, sort of like the last one as a childless couple. But as we had a wedding in Edinburgh a night before and we were a tad travelled out and had the driving equivalent of jet lag, car lag?

But it was all worthwhile when we meet up with them on the most picturesque beach at 7 o’clock in the morning so we could beat the crowds and still be able to visit Gloucester services on the way back home. Side note they are amazing, poor little chef can’t compete. The sea was so blue it was almost turquoise and the sand was as white as salt, and Jess and Jake were disarming and proper charming (I’m happy with that rhyme). We had them walking in the waves and playing in rock pools, it was ace.

Que 6 months later, we find ourselves at the oozingly cool Aswarby Rectory to shoot J&J’s big day (another rhyme, I might just start rhyming everything now, don’t worry I’m not going to). The day went off without a hitch, witnessing Jess’s relationship with her Dad was an honour, so sweet. It was our first wedding with a father-daughter dance and it was nice to kick it off with a pair with such a special relationship. Jess & Jake fit so well together we wish them all the best in the future and we still wonder if they had some haggis on their honeymoon to Edinburgh, come on don’t leave us hanging guys!
