A Laid Back, Rustic Grangefields Wedding with Sage Colours, Full of Fun and a Family Band
What the couple say - Design/vibe/vision for the day
We wanted a design/vibe of laid back and chilled, rustic, and sage! In terms of the vision: all we wanted was all of our favourite people together having a bloody great celebration!
Wedding Ceremony and Confetti
Amy & Duncan opted for our half day package so we didn’t cover prep in the morning but instead, started at grangefields before the ceremony. It was a gorgeous ceremony full of so much emotion, personal vows and all the tears.
They both read the most lovely personal vows to each other, which we absolutely adore. It adds that special touch to your day and makes it so romantic and sentimental.
The weather was a little hit and miss with rain coming and going; so they opted for confetti down the aisle. What’s great is that Grangefields allows confetti indoors, which not every venue does!
Wedding Tip: If you have a bouquet, remember not to hold it up really high so it hides your face! Simple tip but happens quite opten! The flowers just start to drift up….
Details of the day
The Grangefields space doesn’t need loads doing to it for it to feel a bit ‘wow’. Working with the space really pays off and that’s exactly what Amy & Duncan did. They kept to neutral tones and sage greens, which definitely tied in well with the dining room space.
They opted for a white and sage green cake, and little sweets by the bar as favours. They enjoyed canapes in their drinks reception, which always goes down well as the food at Grangefields is amazing! They also had a string quartet not only play in their ceremony but in the afternoon, whilst people played games and enjoyed drinks on the veranda.

Groups and Drinks Reception
As we mentioned earlier, the rain was on and off so opted to do the group photos in the ceremony space. UK weather can be unpredictable so it’s great knowing your venue has a lovely alternative for group photos indoors if need be.
We still managed to get the big group shot on the veranda, which is the best spot for it. This can be a shot that takes time to get everyone in position but people know where to go with this and it makes it that bit easier to coordinate.
The sun eventually came out for drinks, canapes and games to be enjoyed in the courtyard. It’s a really lovely space for people to mingle and for us to get good candids.
Couples Portraits
There’s so many options for couples portraits whether it’s the courtyard, the stables, the fields or the gravel paths around the barns and even in the ceremony space. Amy and Duncan were up for going all over.
We love a good relaxed walking shot and love to split couples portraits with some before your meal and some after if time allows. It helps to make things feel more relaxed and get photos at different points of light in the day.
Speeches and Evening reception
One thing we love at The Crowthers is when women do speeches! It’s so lovely to break tradition and let whoever you want do a speech. Hearing a woman’s voice (whether a Bride or someone else) is really impactful. It’s even lovelier when couple’s do joint speeches. Which is exactly what A&D did.
If you hire both of us, we photograph and film the speeches. Calum will film the speeches in full, which we know from previous couples is something cherished over time.
They cut their cake just before their first dance in the reception space. Then Amy’s sister sang their first dance song which was just so heartwarming!
This lot definitely got the party going with shots, excellent dance moves and everyone joining in with the singing. Amy’s Dad even found himself playing the drums with the band. The whole family got involved! It was one of those bloody lovely weddings, just full of absolute pure joy. What a day!
