A Lovely Wedding Full of Romance, Fun and Friendship in a Post-Industrial Space with a Splash of Red in Sheffield
When it comes to wedding venues, there's something truly magical about the industrial charm of Sheffield's 99 Mary Street. It was in this unconventional yet utterly captivating space that Sarah and Mo celebrated their love, proving that weddings don't need to follow a traditional script to be absolutely perfect.
Small, intimate, and relaxed – that was the vibe Sarah and Mo were aiming for on their big day. The result? A wedding that radiated joy and authenticity. We had the pleasure of capturing this beautiful day, and we're excited to share the story with you.
Getting ready
One of the most heartwarming aspects of their wedding was how they did everything together. They got ready together in the morning, and they walked down the aisle hand in hand, a beautiful symbol of their partnership and reminded us of our own wedding celebrations. Highly recommend this choice for other couples and break a bit of the old traditions.
Creativity and the ceremony
Sarah's wedding dress was a true labour of love, made by none other than her Mum. Personal vows and speeches made the day even more special, as their love story unfolded in front of family and friends.
The stunning floral arrangements, provided by Meadows and Mulberry, worked beautifully alongside the industrial space with the red interiors and brick. Whilst outside was a classic cobbled street in the industrial area of Sheffield, which made a great backdrop for confetti.
99 Mary Street Details
It’s the perfect venue for a smaller all day wedding with that Sheffield industrial feel. It’s quirky in all the right ways and the splash of red really adds to the space without it needing too much decor. Here’s just a little snippet of what Sarah & Mo did for their day.
Rain on your wedding day
Sheffield weather can be unpredictable, and on this special day, it absolutely poured down with rain for most of the time. But not even the rain could dampen the joy and excitement of Sarah and Mo's wedding. It was a testament to the celebration of their day because we all worked around it and embraced the raininess whilst everyone had a blast. Which is always our advice to couples, embrace a bit of rain!
As the rain took a break, Sarah, Mo, and their loved ones seized the moment for confetti showers and group photos. Everyone was so relaxed and went with the flow which is always so great to see.
Couples Portraits
When it comes to rain on your wedding day, we always advise to embrace it because it can make for some dramatic shots. Here’s our number one wedding tip for rain: be flexible on your day for couples photos. If you have it planned at specific times, then let that go and let your team take you out when a dry spell comes out or go for it and get out in the rain with some brollies!
Mexican Street Food and Music
The couple made some delightful choices for their wedding day. For their meal, they went with a unique and delicious twist, opting for Mexican street food. What a great way to keep things laid-back and different!
Music played an integral role in their day, with Sarah's brother and his girlfriend singing and playing guitar during their ceremony. Their ceremony featured a reading from Terry Pratchett's "Thief of Time," which was unique and heartfelt. The icing on the cake? Their choreographed first dance was to "Shut Up and Dance" by Walk the Moon, which definitely got the party going!
A Night to Remember
The evening was a party to remember. The evening guests, having gathered at a local pub beforehand, arrived in high spirits, ready to dance the night away. The rain had nothing on this lively crowd, and the dance floor was going for it.
Sarah and Mo's wedding was a day filled with love, laughter, and fun. It was a celebration of their unique journey, their connection to Sheffield, and their future together. Everyone was so lovely and warm and inviting, which made capturing their day that bit more special.
