A playful heartfelt wedding with lots of family and friend focused fun
The Wedding Day
This couple’s wedding was 135 guests who were all up for a really good time! With a ceremony full of personality and touching moments, to speeches that made us shed tears and laugh all in one, far too much confetti, excellent dancing and finally, trying not to get singed by sparklers at the end. It was absolutely, completely a fun filled wedding full of so much love!
Getting Ready
Dom & Jordan got ready in the bed & breakfast house next to the barns. They had the whole of upstairs with their friends and bridesmaids getting ready. They opted for matching suits with button holes. We really love it when couples get ready together. It’s something we did and really value that time together pre ceremony.
Wedding Ceremony
They had a beautiful ceremony where their mums walked them down the aisle. They shared personal vows, a ring warming ceremony and during the signing, they had shot of baby guinness brought out which was absolutely fab.
Wedding Tip: Make sure personal vows are written on paper or something presentable as they will be in your photos and films. So it’s important it looks good and doesn’t distract.
Details of the day
The florals were absolutely stunning on the day and designed by Stems Design. The Grooms wore matching suits and shoes, and went for lots of neutrals and dark greens throughout their day. They also asked us to photograph the food for their memories because it was important to them (and delicious). They were catered by Blues Catering.
The glassware, greens and candlelights all tied in with the wooden interiors of the grain shed. They also added in the perfect personalised item of a wedding day - cocktails with a print of the couple’s faces on it! Superb!

Confetti and Drinks Reception
This was THE confetti shot! So much confetti, Jordan ended up with most of it in his face and mouth. We always highly recommend using Flutter Darlings for confetti that floats really well and the colours pop. You can use our code THECROWTHERS for 15% off orders over £25.
Confetti Tip: Make it easy for everyone to have a big handful with individual packets so everyone gets some. You always get greedy guests taking way too much from baskets and then everyone doesn’t have some!
Group photos are so important for capturing those core memories of everyone together in one space. We love finding beautiful backgrounds for group photos as often these can be the underdog photos that get printed. You think you won’t and then you do print them! The grain shed or the courtyard make fantastic backdrops for group pics!
Couples Portraits
There’s so much variety at Lodge Farm for couples portraits locations, which is exactly what you want for weddings at all times of the year. The use of the brick walls and Ivy give you that bit of green whilst keeping true to the place you got married in.
We will always be a fan of playful fun shots by the grain shed. It’s a gorgeous neutral toned background especially with the brick wall as well.
Just before you enter the courtyard, the green doors are to the right of you. This is perfect for close up images of you as a couple or wide dynamic shots of the brick building juxtaposing the green doors.
Later in the evening we like to always make time for couples portraits in the open space. Perfect after food and speeches, when you’re a bit more relaxed after a glass of champagne or two.
Speeches and Evening reception
What we love about the space for the speeches and evening reception is everyone has a good view for speeches done near the windows. It’s such a beautiful space where you can really capture the atmosphere.
We love when couples mix up the tradition of speeches and that’s exactly what they did! Jordan’s Mum did a speech and it was beyond moving, Alexandra cried. We LOVE when women have voices at weddings and it’s even more lovely when the Mum gets to do the speech.
Cutting the cake was next and they had a beautiful cake designed by Nelson Bakery. Remember, you always need to stand close together and we always recommend trying a bit of cake then and there (for the fun shots at least)!
Making the first dance stand out! Dom & Jordan brought the dancing to the dance floor and everyone followed. We always recommend a really good band to get the party going. They chose Club Mojo which were fab!
They also opted for sparklers at the end with lots and lots of people! It was a really fun shot at the end of the night in the courtyard. Lodge Farm Weddings only allow smaller groups for sparklers from 2024.
Sparkler Tip: Always make sure there’s a lighter per 2 people and don’t bother with matches. People struggle with them if they’ve had a drink! and you also want to ensure everyone lights up at the same time which takes coordination.
What the couple say
“We wanted it to feel super cosy and not too formal. We loved the barn vibes so we wanted to style it to meet the surroundings! The vibe needed to feel fun too. We did little things throughout the day like baby Guinness shots which is how we brought in our personality as that is what we’d do at our home parties!”
