A Stylish Sheffield City Centre Wedding with a Touch of Industrial Champagne Chic at The Mowbray
We first properly met Liam & Halima at surprise view for a pre-wedding shoot where they brought along their pup Poppy, a cute little whip of a thing, here we first found out about their love of travel, music and of course Poppy. We kind of already knew about our shared interest in travel as we randomly commented on Liam's Instagram post about an Italian holiday they had, we were pining after and still are for another trip to Italy. And that led to us booking them!
Getting Ready
Their mutual love of music was on full display, right from the start with Cat Stephens and The National being played at the ceremony with banger after banger at the reception. The day started for me at The Florentine for groom prep whilst Alexandra went and covered bridal prep. Groom prep can sometimes be quite uneventful, but this lot were eating pizza for breakfast whilst wearing dressing gowns so they wouldn’t ruin their suits.
The Ceremony
The day was split between the Millennium Gallery for the ceremony and The Mowbray for the reception. The Millennium Gallery is really a blank canvas with its big white walls and wall to wall windows and Liam & Halima went for a sophisticated feel with wooden chairs, flowers and a bespoke banner.
They opted for a celebrant ceremony with pretzel snacks to boot. They had champagne in the foyer afterward and group photos outside.
Group Photos
There are some fab unique spots outside The Millennium Galleries that actually make a nice alternative to The Peace Gardens, which I think gets used a lot. Especially if you really want to tie in the post-industrial heart of Sheffield into your day. There’s so many interesting brick backgrounds that it seemed much more interesting to use especially with the colours they’d chosen for their day.
Confetti
We were supposed to do the confetti line at the gallery, but that was a no go due to their rules, which turned out to be a little blessing in disguise as we opted to march down on mass from The Mowbray over to the Ball Street Bridge and do a very public, seemingly random confetti line with a pub full of punters looking on in.
Couples Portraits
We got to The Mowbray early before everyone arrived on a bus to do some couple’s portraits. We used The Mowbray indoors and went around Kelham Island. There’s so many fantastic little spots to get some interesting unique shots. We particularly recommend enjoying some drinks together, going onto the terrace and having some shots outside by the exterior.
The Reception
From Champagne towers to a beautiful trio of cakes, to the tressal tables and decor - The Mowbray had made the space look fantastic and really flowed for an evening of fun. Guests had sharing platters of amazing food, cocktails and more champagne, and danced into the evening. It’s a super fun unique space to be in for a completely different yet modern wedding vibe.
