The Hottest of hot wedding days full of cocktails, good vibes and beautiful Mediterranean styling at Lodge Farm
Watch our highlight film here and read/view more about this gorgeous wedding and all the tips we can offer to get the most out of the space at Lodge Farm Weddings.
The planning - Design/vibe/vision for the day
A relaxed, fun and musical wedding with DIY styling by the bride. They had incorporated music with a friend playing guitar and singing during their drinks reception and a brass band during the evening. They went for a Mediterranean vibe in their decor with blue and white table clothes, olive branches and neutral tones.
Getting Ready
Rachel and Ian had a laid back morning getting ready. Rachel wore a beautiful dress by Elena Ferrara in York. Ian went for a blue suit with a golden mustard yellow waistcoat. They both went for a chic understated look that fitted nicely with their beautiful ceremony and Mediterranean vibe reception. Ian’s tie even tied in with the table decor!
Ceremony
The ceremony was held in the beautiful brick barn with candles and florals. It exuded romance throughout. They both shared personal vows, which added a vulnerability and rawness to the ceremony that was beautiful & fitting for such a romantic space!
It’s worth mentioning that Lodge Farm doesn’t allow real candles in the brick barn anymore.
The Groom also wrote a poem for the Bride, which was read out to everyone by a friend. It’s these touching little unique elements to your ceremony that make it stand out and stuff we LOVE to capture.
Wedding Tip: Always stand nice and close together during your ceremony. Sounds obvious but it doesn’t always happen! So bring each other in and hold hands, be side by side.
Details of the day
The Bride designed everything herself, with a beautiful Mediterranean feel such as the clay pots, the tablecloths and florals. The day featured lots of earthy greens, neutral tones and blues. Sprigs of rosemary were dotted everywhere, which smelled amazing.
It definitely worked really well in the Grain Shed space. They also opted for a guest book featuring their pre wedding photos, which was a lovely unique idea to incorporate their shoot.
As an ode to their cat, they had a little replica made to go onto their cake! We love when couples find ways to feature their pets on their wedding day whether it’s on their cake, a named cocktail or cardboard cut outs!
Confetti and Drinks Reception
At Lodge Farm you can have confetti lines starting from either door from the Brick Barn. The courtyard is a beautiful little area for confetti followed by outdoor drinks, games and chats.
The couple then took their drinks reception onto the open field by the house, where they had live music and singing from a friend. Plenty of drinks were flowing, with hay bales and big white balloons.
Couples Portraits
There’s lots of locations for couples portraits to choose from and here’s a few examples of where you could go. Starting strong with The Grain Shed, the wood panels makes for a beautiful backdrop that adds a bit of something different to the greenery images we often get.
Near to the house on the field, there is a beautiful wildflower walkway for some stunning pictures in spring and summer.
Past the field and through the gate toward the sign posts to the Church; you’ll find a little wooded area. Lovely in all times of the year, it adds something a little different away from the Barns for some quiet time and is great for those super sunny days for shade.
We highly recommend (if the weather allows) to have some golden hour photos (when the sun starts to set) over on the open fields. Golden hour timings change throughout the year so check your timings of your day to see if you can fit it in. The sun will set over the trees and create beautiful light.
Evening reception
One of the great things about Lodge Farm Weddings is there reception space is air conditioned. That might sound silly but when it gets hot on a wedding day it matters! We love capturing everyone having a good time, eating, drinking and chatting and it’s a great space for just that. The space also means there’s lots of movement around the room to get good angles for photos/videos speeches.
The cake normally goes into the corner of the room, which is a great spot for everyone to have a good view from their seat!
As the first dance started, everyone was surprised by welcoming in a brass band. We highly recommend having a band for this space because it really brings the dance floor alive.
The great thing about Lodge Farm is there’s still plenty of space for those that don’t want to dance and want to enjoy drinks and nibbles. Whether it’s sat in the gain shed or out in the courtyard.
