A Winter Grangefields Wedding with a Sand Ceremony, Sparklers and a Traditional Emirati Oud

Getting Ready

Laura & Alili got ready at The Cow at Danbury in different rooms, which was great because we could easily go from one room to another to capture all the getting ready moments. It’s really near to Grangefields and is a great option for couples looking for a nearby stay before their wedding.

Wedding Ceremony

Laura and Alili chose to have their ceremony at 2pm with one of the groomsmen officiating the ceremony. The couple had previously and officially married back in the UAE and chose to have their second wedding here with both sides of their families.

They chose to do personal vows as well as a little sand ceremony honouring where they both come from and the joining of their lives together.

Wedding Tip: You can choose to have your confetti indoors at Grangefields, which is perfect for colder months.

Details of the day

The stationary was done by the couple and the room decor by Grangefields. They had the florist Johnsons The Florist style it with florals and the cake was made by The Bay Cakery.

They also included a perfume section, a string quartet and wedding photos of both Laura & Alibi’s parents.

Group Photos & Drinks Reception

Because it was December, we did all the group photos in the ceremony space. My favourite location being with the double doors closed and using flash. It makes for really clean lovely looking group photos of everyone. It’s a great option for those that don’t want their group photos outside and also want somewhere quieter to do them.

Couples Portraits

Laura & Alili wanted to some couples portraits outside and some inside. So that’s what we did. We talked a little about what they both wanted from their couples shoot and it’s lovely when our couples give us ideas of what they’re after or an image in mind.

One of our favourite shots is when Alili is holding Laura and all the birds fly in the background!

Don’t think you can’t get golden hour in December because you can! It’s just super early. So if you opt for a winter wedding, and still want golden hour just be aware of when the sun sets and make time for it.

Speeches and Evening reception

We love capturing the walk in shot at Grangefields for speeches and dinner! It looks fab! It has the perfect space to do a proper walk-in and it works so well. They chose to have several speeches followed by their cake cutting and first dance.

The joy of a winter grange fields wedding is speeches are normally before dinner and it’s dark so you get this lovely evening glow. It’s super atmospheric leading into your dinner amongst candles and friends and family. It’s a real hygge vibe!

They finished their wedding with sparklers outside followed by a traditional Emirati oUd, which is an Emirati wedding blessing. Everyone got involved surrounding the couple, whilst Calum and I were weaving in and out! Let the pics speak for themselves. I think the last photo in this might be one of my favourites.
