A September Grangefields Wedding Full of English Seasonal Flowers Locally Grown

The Couple’s Review

Alexandra perfectly captured our wedding in Derbyshire in September, the photos are beyond our expectations! Neither of us are exactly comfortable with having our photo taken but we were put at ease right from the very first meeting and everything was made so easy and natural on the day. When your own mother thinks the photographer is one of our friends it's definitely a good sign! The photos themselves are beautiful, just as we wanted (lots of natural group shots, not too many posed shots). The website and doc store is also really easy to use and is a great set up.

Thank you so much to Alexandra, we're so happy with the pictures and recommend The Crowthers to anyone looking for a wedding photographer.

(P.S. the cat posts on Instagram will continue to be appreciated long into the future!!)

From James and Karl

Getting Ready

Karl and James got ready at the Cow at Danbury, which is a little pub with rooms with enough space for a few people to get ready in the morning. The outside space is particularly cute!

Wedding Ceremony

They had opted for a lovely summer into autumn colours with greens and neutrals. With seasonal locally grown florals and showing off Grangefields in all its beauty. Karl & James had a lovely ceremony amongst family and friends, walking down together.

The button holes included thistle’s which we always love! Love a good thistle! Karl and James chose a fairly short ceremony before sharing their first kiss as Husband and Husband, then walking down the aisle hand in hand ready for their family and friends to pelt them with confetti!

Wedding Tip: As you walk down the Aisle, try not to walk too fast. Take it in and enjoy the moment.

Details of the day

They chose beautiful florals for the day designed by the lovely Flower Patch who we’ve worked alongside before and love. They’re particularly great for seasonal florals. Karl and James also used lovely potted ferns, which they also encouraged guests to take home with them at the end of their wedding.

Everything tied in perfectly with Grangefields dining room and the greenery above. They opted for round tables. it all felt very fresh and light and understated.

Confetti and Drinks Reception

They chose a mixture of cream and red fresh metals, and their guests absolutely smothered them in it. Then they had drinks outside whilst I did the group photos and then candids.

Couples Portraits

We chose a few spaces for Karl and James’ photos including the field toward the back of the venue, which is still lovely in September. We also used the gravel path, the hills and road coming into Grangefields. I love mixing up locations for couples shoots, so you have a nice variety!

We also stopped by the wild flower walkway which tied in beautifully with the look and vibe of their day and makes for some excellent walking shots or close ups.

I might even make you run down a hill. But only if you’re up for it! Love to capture a bit of movement and sillyness in your wedding photos.

Speeches and Evening reception

Karl and James chose one of their friends to announce them in and the people doing speeches. They had some really lovely speeches leading into the evening. I always love the Grangefields space for getting speech/meal shots of everyone as a whole so you can get a sense of everyone having a good time.

They had their first dance to Sophie Ellis Bextor’s Not Giving Up on Love and then everyone joined in! And it was a GOOD dance floor! Everyone got involved, which is always the best!

We went out for some cheeky marshmallow’s over the fire pits (I also had one… when in Rome). Everyone got covered in them as per usual. Wine was drunk, dancing continued and everyone had the best evening chatting away! It was such a lovely day. I had the best time!
