Charlotte and Tom at Brympton House - I would drive 500 miles and I would drive 500 more

We’ve had to shift a few things with our business this year, as we’ve had a big life change ie. a new tiny family member. We are no longer fancy-free and able to travel crazy amounts and do loads of weddings in a row. And we thought that’s fine but what makes that really hard is couples like Charlotte and Tom. And the potential of missing out on capturing days like theirs!

We worked out it was a 500-mile round trip to Brympton House and then another 300 miles for me the next day to Charlton hall. So I did 2 weddings and 800 miles in 2 days whilst balancing our home life. Oddly it was much easier than we thought but sometimes we are a bit doom and gloom. And frankly, it was a great 2 days because I shot 2 lovely weddings with great couples.

We first met Charlotte and Tom in Bermuda well sort of. More like a google meet call and they were in Bermuda and we were in Sheffield, the Bermuda of the north some people say! So they were living in Bermuda moving back to Manchester, where we did the pre-wedding shoot then they married in Somerset so they definitely beat us on miles travelled.

We planned the pre-wedding shoot on Father’s Day and unbeknownst to us Manchester day. We met them in the Northern Quarter with our baby girl, as it felt a tad weird to spend the day without her. So the plan was to have a coffee with C&T then Alexandra would photograph them whilst I a new father would brave it alone on the busiest day in Manchester 👍🏻

Charlotte and Tom proved yet again how lovely they were by scoping out the most baby/pram-friendly coffee shop with Charlotte even running ahead to make sure we would be accommodated. And Alexandra yet again smashed it with the shoot. We love an urban shoot!

Cue a month later bang in the heart of Somerset, although disappointingly I heard no dulcet Somerset tones. The ceremony took place in Sherborne Abbey, as a little side note if I was told 10 years ago that I would be on a weekly basis talking to vicars, priests, canons and bishops I would be very confused. I mean I am still a bit unsure what a canon is, he was a nice chap the one at Sherborne. An absolute highlight of the year for me was Ric a friend of the couple read an excerpt from ‘Amber Spyglass' by Phillip Pullman during the ceremony. A childhood favourite for me and frankly one of the most beautiful pieces ever. It never fails to bring a tear to my eye and frankly, it was perfect for Charlotte and Tom and their highlight film. It's the sort of reading you dream of from a videographer's point of view, especially when Ric reads it so well with so much emotion. Thanks, Ric!!

Like most of my blogs I write, I rabbit on about everything but the wedding day, so I am going to do the same and finish the blog here! But I will say the best way to tell a story is to show and don’t tell. So enjoy the photos and films!
