A Spring Time Pastel Toned Relaxed Wedding with a Splash of Cat at Lodge Farm
Getting Ready
Lodge Farm have recently converted one of their barns into a stunning new accommodation and getting ready space, which was a lovely setting for morning photos.
Wedding Ceremony
The beautiful May light seeped into the brick barn ceremony space as Lottie walked down the aisle. Ribbons were placed on the wooden chairs.
Lottie wore a beautiful gown by Ghost Orchid Bride. It really added to the romantic feel of the space as they both stood close to each other to marry.
Wedding Tip: As you walk down the Aisle, try not to walk too fast. Take it in and enjoy the moment.
Details of the day
You can see how their florist Wild Floral tied in their spring cottage core themes outside and inside. Which really complimented the wooden tables and walls and the brick work.
On their tables, they included a little packet of wildflower seeds with an illustrative sticker of flowers featuring their cat, Nellie. They also created complimentary drinks tickets. This is a lovely idea for a simple wedding favour honouring your pets and your ethos/passions. They also included a selection of cocktails called ‘Nellie’s Bar’ in honour of their cat.
This beautiful cake was made by Where The Ribbon Ends which are super popular cakes at the moment and it looked stunning.
Confetti and Drinks Reception
Lottie & Ellis opted for Flutter Darlings confetti which we always recommend. They went for pastel tones tying in with their chosen floral colours and adding that spring time touch to their May Wedding. Use our code THECROWTHERS to get 15% off.
So many beautiful location choices for groups but for this wedding I chose in front of the iron steps and rose bushes. It tied in beautifully with the emerald green dresses. I never like a complete blank background, instead choosing to tie in the space itself to feel purposeful to your wedding location.
The courtyard for your drinks reception where everyone can relax and drink and eat and chat.
Couples Portraits
This wedding was in May which meant the field toward the church and through the gate looked perfect for couples portraits.
We also stopped by the wild flower walkway which tied in beautifully with the look and vibe of their day and makes for some excellent walking shots or close ups.
Later on in the evening we headed to the field past the house where the light is always nice and makes for lovely movement in your images or films. We then went back to the reception space to photograph outside between the two windows, which we think makes a beautiful evening shot in either golden hour or blue hour.
Speeches and Evening reception
Absolutely loving high flash entrance shots and this pair knew how to enter and looped the whole room which we highly recommend.
We absolutely LOVE when brides do speeches or simply having women at weddings doing speeches. Often people stick to the ‘traditions’ of wedding speeches but here’s your sign to break that mould and mix it up.
They also chose to feature their beloved Nellie with cardboard cut outs which we adored! Especially capturing them cutting the cake with Nellie peeping in the corner. Spot on.
Lodge Farm Weddings nail it when it comes to good cocktails, good glassware and good vibes. If you’re anything like us, we love a good bit of glassware to have a nice cocktail in. It feels luxury which is exactly what you want on your wedding.
The night ended with a rainy outside and warm fire baked pizzas in the courtyard. Everyone got their pizzas and sat and chatted in the gorgeous reception space. What’s great about this venue is it caters for all weathers and keeps everyone comfortable and social. Pizzas, good drinks, candlelight, music and rain was a vibe.
What the couple say - Design/vibe/vision for the day
“We really wanted as relaxed a day as possible, we wanted our flowers to match our cottage garden, with springy wild flowers in soft colours. We loved the style and story of Lodge Farm! The ceremony room is dark, dramatic, romantic etc! The reception room and courtyard is relaxed, bright and simple so you can put your own stamp on it we wanted to do as much of the prep as we could but we were helped so much by our florist Allie, she helped keep our vision clear as I had a tendency to go off plan due to seeing stuff on Instagram we chose all our suppliers due to reviews about how organised, relaxed and friendly they were”
